What is Simple Interest and how is it calculated?

AnswerTap to flip back

Simple Interest (SI) = (Principal × Rate × Time) / 100. For example, if you invest ₹10,000 at 5% per annum for 3 years, SI = (10,000 × 5 × 3) / 100 = ₹1,500. The total amount = Principal + SI = ₹11,500. Simple interest is calculated only on the original principal, unlike compound interest.
